The following is an excerpt from the Peoria Journal Star Class 2A boys soccer regional outlook.

At Metamora

When: Semifinals Tuesday; finals Friday

Field: 1 Notre Dame (17-2-1); 2 Metamora (9-7-0); 3 Woodruff (8-10-0); 4 Central (1-10-0).

Outlook: Notre Dame, the defending Class 2A state champions, is the heavy favorite here. The Irish, who have not lost to any team from Illinois this season, have allowed just four goals in their current 11-game win streak. A much-improved Woodruff side will look to avenge a 5-1 loss to Metamora in last year’s regional semifinal. The Redbirds, who have yet to face any of the teams in the field, have won three of their last four games.

JS pick: Notre Dame

Next: Morton Sectional, against Streator Regional winner
